Climate Change & Oscars

Oscar night!! Shoutout to Leo from last years actor of the year award, and most notably the speech he delivered. This man awaited his entire career to win actor of the year, and used the podium time to highlight global climate change.

“Making ‘The Revenant’ was about man’s relationship to the natural world, the world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in reported history — our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow,” DiCaprio said. “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It’s the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.”

I'd like to point out the crucial role we have as engineers in this quest to ensure the safety of our planet. Certifications like LEED exist for a darn good reason, to incentivize building decision makers towards a greener design, a brighter future, and a better tomorrow. Our role is vitally important in the protection of this generation and the next, and our planets species of plants and animals throughout the globe. I am proud to be an engineer :)
